Recent ActivityHello!!! My name is Mrs. Pyle and this is my fifth year teaching 5th grade at Springdale Elementary. I graduated from Winthrop University in 2004 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and in August of 2007 from Columbia College with my Master's degree in Divergent Learning.
I grew up in Irmo, and now live in Chapin with my husband and our two black labs, Jack and Grace. I enjoy reading, traveling, baking, photography, and spending time with my family and friends. I also spend some time deer and duck hunting with my husband. I am a huge Carolina fan and love to tailgate and go to the football games.
I am very excited about the 2008-2009 school year. We have a fantastic class that is made up of 10 girls and 11 boys. I will use this website to keep parents informed of what's going on in the classroom. I will post pictures, so check back often to see what's new. Class Announcements Spelling StrategyMany students struggle with learning their spelling words. Below is a strategy that we have used in class and that many find very helpful.
Complete the following 6 steps with each spelling word: LOOK at the word SAY the word out loud NAME the letters in the word (spell it out loud) COVER the word WRITE the word from memory CHECK the word, letter by letter Students would need to complete this strategy several times with each word. It often benefits those students who are visual, as it helps them "see" the word in their mind. Discussion Topics Class Files
